Condition
The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. Consigned by an incredible important collector, the present watch is not only a mechanical masterpiece but is highly decorated with precious diamonds throughout. The repeating is in phase and has a very nice tone and clarity. The silent strike and automatic repeating mechanism is working beautifully. The dial is in extremely beautiful with a lovely two-tone finish and pave diamond centre. The case is in exceptional condition with very crisp engravings to the case back confirming this watch is a no. 1. All diamonds to the bezel and bracelet are intact and are beautifully radiating in bright light. There is just a couple of surface mark to the bezel and bracelet. In additional to the absolute stunning appearance of this bracelet watch, we also confirm that it is a unique piece made by the famous house Audemars Piguet. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note
This highly sophisticated wristwatch not only strikes the time on request, but can be set to chime automatically. A grande sonnerie is a mechanism that chimes the hour and also the quarter every 15 minutes. Similar to a bell tower or clock. This watch can also be considered a clock watch. The case back is signed 'no. 1' and both and case and bracelet have been lavishly set with diamonds. Complete with original certificate, sales tag and presentation box, the present watch is offered in excellent overall condition.
