Catalogue Note

Edouard Bovet whom founded Bovet in 1822 established his workshop in the Canton province of China and played a very crucial role in the promotion of horology while he was there. During that time in China, Bovet had sold thousands of pocket watches to Chinese nobles and courtiers in the 19th century and this eventually led Bovet to personalize the use of miniature enamels, tourbillon and repeaters function for his timepieces. The present unique watch showcases a replica of “Madonna Della Sedia”  by Raphael. Amongst all of horology decoration, miniature enamel painting is in fact the hardest to perfect. An average case would require a watchmaker an average of forty hours of peering attentively through the binocular magnifier. On top of that, have to paint on the mother-of-pearl dial with exceptionally sharp eyes and dexterous hands.

This watch is in a very good overall condition which includes a minute repeater function that charms harmoniously when activated. The craftsmanship required to produce such a complex watch is  beyond imagination. Furthermore, it is present with both certificate and presentation box.
