Catalogue Note

The present timepiece from the 1970s exudes all the charm of its decade. So lavish is this watch, it was deemed fit enough for a king, or at least for a king to gift, bearing the emblem of The Sultanate of Oman. The watch is also distinguished by its studded, diamond-set bracelet. Similar in appearance to the tentacle of an octopus, collectors worldwide have afforded it the nickname 'Octopussy'.  The present lot has been retained in superb condition, with strong proportions and sharp edges. The bracelet shows some tarnishing but this is testament only to its lack of use. The lume to the dial and hands has also aged evenly, resulting in a very attractive caramel patina. The stamp on the dial and the overall condition serve to make this watch a true collector's item.
