Condition
MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing and the date advancing. CASE: in very good condition with sharp edges and nice metal-brushed finishing to the lugs. The case is still thick and the bevels are visible. There is wear visible to the case with the naked eye. The bracelet, reference 93150, is in very good condition with some signs of wear and very light stretching. The endlinks are stamped 580. DIAL: in very good condition with some surface blemishes including a spot to the left and slightly above the Rolex logo which is visible with the naked eye. The luminous dots have aged nicely and uniformly taken on a slightly brown color. They no longer react under UV light. The hands have some tarnishing noticeable with the naked eye and been changed during a servicing. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note
The present reference 1680 is a pristine original example of a 'White MK2' Submariner. Produced solely over a couple of years, it is indeed rare to see a watch with such a crisp case, together with good bevels and nicely-aged luminous indexes. A very attractive option for daily use.
