Catalogue Note

The Ellipse is one of Patek Philippe's best known designs that has lasted through decades and is still being manufactured today. The present reference was launched in 1971 and was the first Ellipse with the automatic calibre 28-255 C which was later also used in the Nautilus reference 3700. It remains, thanks to its substantial size, the largest of the older 'vintage' Ellipse models and one of a few to have a date display as well. The present lot is offered in an attractive condition with a Certificate of Origin and presentation case, and is further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives that confirms the nice blue sunburst dial present on the watch.
