The reference 5442 was introduced in 2005 to honor the founder of IWC, F.A. Jones, and was available in three metals: steel, rose gold and platinum. Jones, a watchmaker from Boston, Massachusetts, relocated to Schaffhausen and established IWC in 1868. The platinum edition was made in 500 pieces. The watch is a natural successor to the original Portuguese created by IWC in the 1930s with an over-sized case and plain, highly legible dial.
