MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing and the calendar advancing. CASE: in great condition with nice brushed-metal finish and barely any surface wear visible. The watch has been serviced at Wempe and therefore shows very light signs of a potential polish. The case has been replaced during a servicing. DIAL: in very good condition with very fine staining visible around 6 and 11 o'clock when closely examining the dial. It might be true that Gérald Genta was unaware that the octagon is an ancient symbol of rebirth and revival. However, it had exactly that effect once introduced in 1972. The Royal Oak took the world of watchmaking by storm and transformed not only the watch industry, but also Audemars Piguet. It challenged the status quo and unleashed imaginations. Since then the model has adopted several different versions, materials and almost every complication.

In 1981, the perpetual calendar complication was first incorporated in the Royal Oak line. It housed the extra-thin caliber 2120, which was developed by Audemars Piguet in 1978. The present Royal Oak perfectly combines a sporty aesthetic with the perpetual calendar complication. It is remarkably elegant and fascinating at the same time. 

The present watch is in great condition with brushed metal finish and sharp edges. According to our research, the movement has been re-cased during a service.
