Catalogue Note

The reference 6239 Rolex Daytona 'Paul Newman' is a classic. The white enamel serifed graphics, red Daytona signature, black center, sunken white chapter ring with red seconds scale, white subsidiary registers with concentric circles and black graphics would be what appears in a dictionary to define the Rolex 'Paul Newman' dial. The present example is a wonderful illustration of this classic. The lume plots are uniform in size and age; they also react wonderfully under UV. There is just a minor loss at 3 o'clock which is very common. The case and bezel are also very crisp and the numbers between the lugs are very crisp and easy to read. Manufactured in the second half of the sixties, this really is a stunning example complete with its original riveted Oyster bracelet.
