Condition
MVT: running at the time of cataloguing and the date advancing. Please note that the crown winding is not working properly and that the watch will need a service at the buyer's expense. CASE: in good honest condition with sharp edges. There are some noticeable nicks and scratches to the case and there are minute signs of corrosion visible to the middle case. The pearl on the bezel at 12 o'clock is missing. DIAL: in very good condition with nice and uniform navy blue dial. The luminous material has aged consistently and no longer reacts to UV light. There are very minor surface blemishes visible when closely examining the dial. There are a few chips to the glass. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Furthermore, the watch may not come with its original manufacturers strap or band. Catalogue Note
The Tudor Oyster-Prince Submariner ‘Snowflake’ was introduced in 1969 as the ref. 7016 with no date. In the mid 1970’s the reference 9401/0 was introduced without a date and the reference, like the present lot, reference 9411/0 with a date. Both references were fitted with either blue or black dials, matching inserts and with ‘Snowflake’ hands and numerals.
