Condition
MVT: running at the time of cataloguing. The chronograph functioning. CASE: in good condition. Some light sings of wear and polishing. Some wear to the bezel, split between 50 and 55. The bezel and pushers replaced during a service. DIAL: in very good condition. Service dial. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note
Introduced in the late 1960s, references 6263 and 6265 replaced the reference 6240 and were in production until the late 1980s. The model featured screw down pushers and carried the "Oyster" on the dial. The model was offered in either stainless steel or gold and the movement was also upgraded from a Valjoux 722 to the Valjoux 727. The reference 6263 also featured a bezel with black acrylic insert featuring a tachymeter scale printed in white and the 6265 featured a steel bezel with black enamel calibrations.
This 6263 Daytona remains in overall very attractive condition, its case maintains sharp edges and thick lugs, the dial, hands, bezel and pushers have all been upgraded during a servicing.
