Description

  • Height 40 1/2  in., 102.9  cm; Width 22 1/2  in., 57 cm; Depth 19 3/4  in., 50.2 cm
each with a straight top rail joined to back posts, continuing through the hard-mat seat frame and forming the back legs, the slightly curving central splat enclosing one long plain rectangular panel between a smaller panel carved with ruyi-head cartouche and a shaped and beaded apron, the serpentine arms continuing to the front posts and through the bowed, molded edge frame, forming the front legs, over a straight apron delicately carved with confronting chilong and plain spandrels, the legs joined by stretchers, over shaped aprons, of ascending height and a footrest applied with a brass cover (2)

Condition

Both chairs in generally good condition, with expected consolidation to the joinery, minor repairs and replacements, and wear consistent with age and use. Please note that this lot will require a CITES permit for export outside of the United States.
