Description
- Height 2 1/2 in., 6.4 cm
deftly carved, the deity seated with legs crossed, the hands resting in the lap, the head slightly bowed, dressed in a loose robe falling open at the chest revealing the tied edge of the dhoti and draped in naturalistic folds over the arms and legs, the hem of the robe finely incised with a brocade pattern and inset with a seed pearl and small colored stones, the hair, beard, and eyebrows finely incised and painted in black pigment, the stone transmuting from a golden yellow tone at the head to a coral tone at the legs, the upper back signed Hui Yi

Condition
In overall good condition except for a small chip to the bottom edge of the drapery near the left knee and some minute nicks and bruises to the edges and extremities, as can be expected. Some of the inlays may have been later replaced.The underside with a later incised marking and the carver's name in pinyin, likely added by one of the previous owners.
