Description
Featuring an ancient coin depicting Hercules in profile, flanked by stacks of pyramidal cabochon amethysts, the ends topped with cabochon rubies, the coin reverse depicting a tripod, the bezel inscribed 'Macedonia-Philippi 4th cent B.C.', signed Bulgari, numbered BD 8996, with Italian assay and registry marks.
Condition
In very good condition, the mounting well polished. Italian assay mark for 18 karat gold. The amethysts are violet, slightly included. The cabochon rubies are strongly purplish red, moderately included, one with a small chip near the girdle visible under 10x magnification. The antique coin in good condition, the surface with small crazing lines. Brooch length approximately 2 inches. Gross weight approximately 16 dwts.
