Description

Each designed as a hummingbird, set with coral cabochons forming the heads and bodies, one with a round ruby-set eye, the ruby-set brooch signed Cartier, Italy.

Condition

Each in good condition, the mountings with minor signs of wear, not noticeable when worn. The Cartier brooch stamped 18k; the unsigned brooch partially stamped 750 for 18 karat gold. One coral cabochon in the unsigned brooch is loose in the mounting, not affecting wearability, but may benefit from the attention of a jeweler. The coral in each is medium to medium deep orangey red, with subtle natural graining; well-polished. The ruby in the Cartier brooch is medium purplish red, slightly included, with small chips to the crown noticeable under 10x magnification. Total gross weight approximately 17 dwts. Cartier brooch dimensions approximately 2 x 1½ inches; unsigned brooch measures approximately 2 x 1⅞ inches. Please note that both brooches were purchased together by the client at Cartier, although one is unsigned.
