- A Dog Team Resting by an Iceberg, 1912
- Image: 45 x 32.4 cm (17 3/4 x 12 3/4 in.); sheet: 46.5 x 34 cm (18 1/4 x 13 1/4 in.);frame: 63.5 x 53 cm (25 x 20 7/8 in.).
Carbon print. Signed in pencil in the lower left quadrant. Titled and annotated in pencil with the photographer's stamps on the verso. Matted and framed.
Condition
This print is in overall good vintage condition. Matt print. Green tones. The top edge is hinge-mounted to card with two pieces of masking tape on the verso. With light undulation to the right and left edges of paper and loss of overcoat layer along margin edges where the mount was glued and then removed, not affecting image. A long faint horizontal fold along the top left corner, with a few water stains and foxing spots near the upper edge, with a couple of half moon handling creases in the upper right quadrant, all of which are only visible under raking light and inherent to the print's age. In the centre of the print and only visible under close inspection, three pressure lines and one fine cut following a previous label rectangular shape attached to verso. White specks in the negative visible under close inspection. Despite these minor imperfections, a stunning print with crisp details and great contrasts.
