Condition
Inscribed by an unknown hand on the reverse: 'voor je 25 verjaardag/ van, Frans' [For your 25th birthday/ from, Frans] Examined in the frame. Oil on stable panel. The work presents well. There is stable craquelure at center around the left ship's bow and around the horizon line; and a small dot of discolored varnish in the sky to the left of the bow. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly and in a streaky manner in a few areas. There is inpainting to address prior frame abrasion scattered along the upper and upper right edges; and one area of inpainting at the lower right edge.
