Condition

Overall in very good condition. This charming shade is executed in a bright and cheerful naturalistic palette. The nasturtiums are depicted in a range of orange tones from burnt orange to more yellow-orange, and are selectively executed with rippled and granite glass, imparting the shade with wonderful texture. The nasturtium blossoms are offset by the vibrant green leaves and delicate powder blue and turquoise background passages. The shade with approximately 7 cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The blown glass base is in excellent condition and displays a vibrant shamrock green coloration with slightly darker vertical ribs which transition to navy toward the bottom of the base. The blown glass with scattered minor particulate and air bubble inclusions, including a few air bubbles which are open to the surface, inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The bronze elements display a rich brown patina and present with scattered minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and gentle handling. The bronze elements appear to have been applied with a clear varnish at some point in the history of the piece, which extends in some areas onto the upper shoulder of the blown glass base. With an original Tiffany Studios kerosene burner which was later adapted with a period socket. With a later reproduction finial in very good condition. A highly artistic example of this exceedingly rare shade model, displaying a beautifully harmonious shade and base pairing.
