Catalogue Note
Gilles Marrey, born in Vendome in 1963 is a painter, engraver and illustrator. After graduating from les Beaux-Arts de Rouen, he starts his career in Paris and works with his college friends in a shared workshop. After a long stay in New York at the beginning of 1990, he focuses is work on the realism, abandoning his larger dream-like canvases for scenes from his everyday life. Gilles Marrey is today one of the greatest representative of French figuration.
