Condition
This work is in very good condition overall. The canvas is unlined. There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges, most notably at the lower right corner, where a pinpoint loss to the pigment at the extreme lower right corner is visible. Further inspection reveals a network of hairline craquelure, running along all four edges in the black paint, as well as scattered isolated areas of hairline vertical and horizontal hairline craquelure, most notably in a vertical line 5 1/2 inches from the left edge, from the top to the bottom edge. Under close inspection, there is a 1-inch long drip accretion visible in the upper right quadrant of the upper right yellow flower, as well a pinpoint spot accretion 4 1/2 inches from the left edge and 8 inches from the bottom edge. The stretcher bar is exposed on the left side due to the canvas support's irregular shape, which is inherent to the artists chosen media and working method. The colors are bright and fresh. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned drip accretion fluoresces lightly but is not the result of restoration. Unframed. Please refer to Sothebys.com for updated cataloguing.

Catalogue Note
"Art does not come from 'nowhere' or for that matter anywhere. Creativity does not pop into the head. There are grounds, forces, powers that create and make art. A hazardous journey of leaps and crevasses, errors, daring and courage. This is the premise." Sturtevant
