Description

  • 10 cm, 4 in wide
of oblong form, decorated in opaque white and translucent orange enamels with a design en etoffe of swirling garlands and ribbons flanking medallions simulating moss agate stones, the later applied top centred on an oval orange medallion overlaid with pierced gold flowers, apparently unmarked

Condition

General impression smart and condition very good. Curious construction as the lid appears to be later and nailed on with metal pins, also the lid border and the curved segments of gold are applied on top, restoration to orange enamel in three places on the lid (slightly darker parts), several losses to enamel on the base rim
