Description

  • 6.5 cm, 2 5/8 in diameter
circular, the ground striped in gold and abalone shell in different tones of green and purple, within stamped mounts, the lid inset with an enamel portrait of Louis XV, wearing the ribbon of the Order of (?), and a blue velvet cloak adorned with gold fleurs-de-lis, tortoiseshell-lined, maker's mark [?]C, a star between, charge and discharge marks of Julien Alaterre, Paris, 1771, later French control marks including 3e titre 1819-38 and post-1838 eagle head control

Condition

traces of old varnish on burgau stripes, otherwise in good order, small loss of burgau on the base, one stripe of burgau missing on the side
