Condition

The illustrations of the catalogue are accurate. Beautiful cabinet with harmonious proportions. Very nice quality of the old mercury gilding, and very nice quality of chasing as expected under the reign of Louis XVI. The gilding is slightly rubbed to some places as expected, especially to the edges and to the flat surfaces. As stated in the printed catalogue, the black granite top is later. The ebony veneer is in good overall condition with some minor dents, marks and scratches. There is one minor loss of veneer on the upper part of the front left feet. The elements have been preserved with a respectful restoration: the condition is optimal and ideal. Very high quality of engraving of the brass, tin and tortoiseshell elements. Very nice brown color of the tortoiseshell with transparency. The cabinet is ready to display.
