Condition
There is surface dirt throughout, notably in the crevices and wear to the patina, notably to the high points, consistent with age and handling. There are a few small dents and scratches in some places, with a larger scratch (about 15 mm by 5 mm) to the back, on her proper left buttock. The original dark lacquer has minor losses throughout the surface. There are few small casting flaws in some places, notably to the folds of the drapery. The eyes and nails are highlighted with a thin layer of silver or lead. A circular hole is visible to the top of her head, perhaps where a now missing element was inserted, and there is a second hole to the top of the cornucopia forming candlestick. The N° 67 of the French royal collection is engraved vertically to the back of her proper left thigh. The casting is representative of the best North Italian Renaissance bronzes, with a powerful silhouette, highly detailed locks of hair and decorative pattern, notably on the cornucopia, and the dark lacquer patina consistent with the period.
