Condition

The panel is even and stable, apart from a minor c. 2cm horizontal fine crack faintly visible in the sky above the horizon to the left. Ultra-violet light reveals intermittent strokes of retouching along the left and right framing edges, and thin strokes addressing craquelure in the distant foliage, the varnish fluoresces opaquely making the surface difficult to read, although these appear to be the main retouchings. The colours are deeper in the original than in the catalogue illustration.
