Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal a spot of retouching (approx. 6 cm wide) to the left part of the upper edge, lines of retouching (the longest of which is approx. 14 cm long) and smaller dots and lines of retouching to the upper part of the composition. There are further dots of old retouching to the lower left corner, to the centre of the lower edge and towards the lower part of the right edge. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges and some minor abrasion with associated dots of paint losses notably to the centre of the red apple. This work is in overall good condition.
