It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The panel is sound. There is an old milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating. However examination under UV light appears to reveal areas of retouching to the right part of the composition, smaller spots and dots of retouching in places, most predominately to the lower left quadrant, and an additional intermittent vertical line of retouching (approx. 6 cm long) towards the centre of the lower edge. There are some hairline craquelure throughout the composition, notably to the upper right pink cake and there is a small spot of discolouration (approx. 1 cm wide) towards the lower right corner. This work is in overall fair and stable condition.
