Description

  • 27.2 cm, 10 3/4  in.
the ovoid body divided into six lobes by raised ribs, rising from a slightly splayed foot to a tubular neck, set with an arched strap handle opposite a curved spout decorated with a zoomorphic face, all surmounted by a cover with a lion finial, covered overall save for the foot and base in a translucent blue-tinged glaze

Condition

The ewer is in overall good condition, with a small bruise to the pot mouth rim, possibly original to the piece; and a few nicks to the tipend of the mask spout's "ears". The cover: There are few minor chips to the extremities of the lion knob (tip of ear and tail) and a couple of hairline cracks to the rim.
