Description

of rectangular form, the fitted top panel with clusters of dense burls at one end dissolving into a rich ripple-patterned grain across the remainder of the surface, the rims of the box and cover with a beaded edge, all four sides extending to form a narrow foot rim, brass hinges, fitted with bail handles with knocking plates, and circular lockplate with a cloud-form hasp

Condition
There is some expected shrinkage to the top panel, base panel, and a few of the joins, with associated consolidation including a narrow fill along one edge of the base panel. The hinges have been repaired. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
