Condition
Pile overall very good, approximately 4-5 mm, partial oxidisation to dark brown and to light melon colour in field motifs, some restorations particularly in lower lappet border. Additional images including pre-restoration are available on request from the department. Absolutely glorious colour, A very pretty piece.

A related rug, called Bergama, 18th century, is in the Textile Museum, TM R.34.2.5, illustrated Yohe, Ralph S. and McCoy Jones, H, ed., Turkish rugs, exh. catalogue, Washington, 1968, no.36. The lattice work trellis design may be derived from Ottoman brocade.
