of characteristic form, tall back plate and bracketed shelf, wood carved in deep relief and painted in polychrome and gilt with openwork designs of classical colonnades, floral sprays and elaborate acanthus leaves

Condition

Later hook to reverse for hanging, the upper terminal for the acanthus leaf broken and in a separate bag with lot (we would recommend contacting a professional restorer for advice on restoring this piece), some minor knicks to external edges and some wear as consistent with age and use, small patches of paint, particularly to bracketed shelf - missing, some hairline cracks go gilding and discoloration, small hook added to back for hanging, as viewed.
