This rare pair of gilt-copper jardinieres are inlaid with hardstone (lapis lazuli and turquoise) and not with champlevé enamel as stated in the print catalogue. The quadrilobed inside parts a removable. The insides are not gilt. There is minor wear to the rich gilding on both jardinieres and minor losses to the hardstones inlays. Some of them could be later additions. All the lapis lazuli lotus flower above the handles are loose. The stems of the leaves above the handles may have been restored. Both lower parts of the handles of one jardinière have been reattached to the well, as visible inside the jardinière. There are light flaw on the surface on one jardinere's well.
