Condition

It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The canvas is not lined and undulating with associated horizontal lines in areas, most predominately to the lower part of the composition. Examination under UV light reveals no evidence of retouching. There are some stretcher bar marks running horizontally across the centre of the composition. There are some areas of light whitening to the pigment, most predominately to the blue and red pigments, consistent with age. There are a few dots of minor paint losses with associated spots of discolouration notably in the blue pigment. There is a diagonal superficial scratch (approx. 9 cm long) towards the lower part of the left edge. There are a few flyspots and small dots of light dark stains in places. This work is in overall good condition.
