Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes, Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This work has been well restored and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas has been lined with a non-wax adhesive. The paint layer is clean and varnished. There are no structural damages. The work reads quite darkly under ultraviolet light, and it is hard to identify retouches as a result. However, it is likely that some thinness and cracking has been retouched, particularly in the darker colors. Nonetheless, the work looks well despite some of the thinness that has probably developed over time.
