Condition
Overall in very good condition. The gold surface is very well preserved throughout and displays occasional beautiful inflections of iridescence to some of the leaves. The reverse side of one leaf and one side of the semi-circle with minor rubbing to the gilding, in areas measuring approximately 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch, respectively, not visually distracting. The reverse side of the leaves with some very slight darkening to the patina, not visible when worn. The piece has been professionally examined and the pearls have been tested as mounting would allow. The results show the presence of cultured and uncultured pearls. The upper chain displays the use of a different vermeil alloy, not visually distracting and not visible unless closely examined. A very chic piece of jewelry that exemplifies the poetry and fantasy of Claude Lalanne's work.
