Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There are some faint stretcher bar marks visible along the upper and left framing edges, and some scattered pin-head sized spot of paint flaking in the sky, notably in the upper left corner. Ultra-violet light reveals some scattered strokes of strengthening in the lower half of the composition, notably in the tunics of the two sitting men to the right, in the donkey and in the man smoking in the lower left corner. These retouchings appear to be very finely applied and are not visible to the naked eye.
Overall, this work presents well, is in good condition and is ready to hang.
