Condition
The artist's paper has been laid down, possibly by the artist himself, on thin linen canvas which appears of the period. There is a grid-like structure of hairline craquelure throughout, and one fold line is visible in the upper left corner. Ultra-violet light reveals scattered clusters of cosmetic retouching notably in the sky, including a circa 6cm stroke in the clouds in the upper left quadrant, possibly addressing an old tear (also patched on the reverse). Another patch, circa 5 by 10cm, is visible in the upper right corner. This is work is in good overall condition and ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
