  • Eighteenth-century French calligraphic manuscript "Addition. Premiere Règle D'arithmétique de livres sols & deniers", dated 2 December 1777
written in red, yellow, blue and black inks, illustrated with drawings of faces, birds and animals, dealing with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, interest, tax rates, exchange rates, square & cube roots and with finding the golden number and epact of the year, dated "ce Jour'huy 2me Xbre 1777" on f.21 (whilst calculating the number of minutes that have elapsed since the birth of Christ) large folio (440 x 290mm.), 127 leaves, bluish paper, French provenance, 1777 ("1778" on flyleaf), contemporary vellum boards, joints cracking, ties defective
