Condition
Oil on canvas, lined. The picture surface is in generally good condition aside from minor surface dirt and dust and some minor scattered areas of craquelure, mainly in the figures and their shadows. Black tape associated to the relining is visible at the extreme edges in the current framing. Under UV light, the work is covered by an older, green fluorescing varnish, which obscures parts of the picture surface. Scattered, minor retouches are visible in the sky along the extreme left edge, the horizon line, and scattered in a few small places. There is retouching and minor strengthening to the standing figure's hat brim, the bridge of his nose, and a few pindots in his mouth and forehead. Additional scattered lines of retouching, mainly to address prior areas of craquelure, are visible. The picture is framed and ready to hang.
