naturalistically carved recumbent, the beast with large bulging eyes and grasping a large lotus spray in its jaws, the stone of pale celadon tone with a russet skin to the underside
Provenance
Hotel des Ventes Drouot, Paris, 30th April 1994.
Condition
The cover is missing, there's several slightly polished shallow chips to the inner rim, the biggest measures approximately 1.5 x 0.3cm., also a section broken off and missing from the foliage between two pomegranate which measures 2.7 cm. long. Overall with some minor nicks to
extremities and expected surface wear. The colour of the jade is slightly darker than catalogue illustration.
