ink on paper, handscroll, comprising text from the Lanting Xu (Preface to the Gathering at the Orchid Pavilion) and illustration of the gathering, with seals of the collectors
Condition
The scroll is in general fair condition, with stripes to the back of the painting to smooth the creases and tears, and also with small associated losses and foxing in various areas, which is in consistent with its age and use. The calligraphy section with mostly horizontal creasing and one small area of loss to the paper. The woodblock print section with mostly vertical creasing and associated flaking of ink and some minor losses. Please note the measurements of this lot should be: woodblock print: 32 by 622 cm, 12 5/8 by 244 7/8 in. calligraphy: 27 by 138 cm, 10 5/8 by 54 3/8 in.
