INSCRIBED and SIGNED by GORDON COOPER: "From my LM notebook, GORDON COOPER, Apollo X B.U. CDR, LM 4." Additionally SIGNED and INSCRIBED: “BUZZ ALDRIN, LM-5 Apollo XI; ALAN BEAN, LM-6 Apollo 12; FRED HAISE, LM-7 Apollo 13; EDGAR MITCHELL, LM-8 Apollo 14 and CHARLES M. DUKE, JR., LM-11 Apollo 16.” Two drawings show the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly (MESA) with the position locations of the Sample Return Container (to hold lunar dust and rocks) and the Lunar Transfer Bag (used to bring samples and other items back inside the LM). The MESA allowed astronauts easy access to LM stored equipment while working on the lunar surface.
