The board appears to be stable. There are pinheads in the upper left, lower left and lower right corners. There are some flecks of loss and nicks in the extreme lower left corner and towards the upper right corner, on the extreme right edge. There are one or two further tiny flecks of loss in keeping with the Artist's materials and working methods. There is some slight cracquelure in the impasto in the upper right corner and the tips of the impasto have been flattened in places. There is also some reticulation in the brown pigment towards the lower edge. There is surface dirt throughout and some evidence of studio matter in places. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals some areas of fluorescence in the brown pigment in the lower left corner, which may be in keeping with some old and sensitively executed retouchings.
