Catalogue Note

This painting depicts Piz Lagrev and the blue glistening Lake Sils on a bright spring day. Juxtaposing two larch trees in the foreground of an idyllic landscape, a fully grown specimen alongside a young one, Segantini appears to allude to the passage of life, on being and passing away. By means of these symbolist elements, Frühlingslandschaft is reminiscent of the renowned triptych by Giovanni Segantini, Werden – Sein – Vergehen ( 1896-1899).

This work is registered in the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) under no. 69 151.
