This drawing is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity by Jura Brüschweiler. This work is registered in the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) under no. 68331.
Ferdinand Hodler executed the present portrait of Berthe Hodler-Jacques for the front of the one-hundred franc banknote, released in 1911 by the Swiss National Bank. The reverse of the dark blue bill features the renown motif of a “Mäher” (mower), a farmer working with his scythe.
Die vorliegende Kopfstudie mit dem wunderbaren Konterfei von Berthe Hodler-Jacques schuf Ferdinand Hodler für das Medaillon auf der Vorderseite der Hundertfrankennote, welche 1911 von der Schweizerischen Nationalbank herausgegeben wurde. Auf der Rückseite der dunkelblauen Note war das Motive des «Mähers», ein Bauer mit seiner Sense bei der Arbeit, dargestellt.
