Condition

Original canvas which the artist extended along the top and left edges. Seams are visible and there are losses to the joints. There are faint stretcher bar marks. There are frame abrasions along all four edges with minor paint losses in places. There is a pattern of craquelure throughout the composition, which is more prominent along the edges. There are scattered areas of paint losses. There is a vertical surface scratch running from the centre of the bottom edge with further smaller scratches elsewhere. There is a layer of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching along the left joint as well as further scattered retouching in places. Held in a gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
