Condition

Original canvas which is buckling slightly in the lower right. There are pinholes to edges in places and abrasions along all four edges. There is a stretcher bar mark running along the left and top edges. There is an area of paint shrinkage to the sitter's right sleeve. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching to the sitter's face, principally the lower half of it, an area of retouching to the background to the left of the sitter's head as well as some very minor scattered retouching in places. Held in a simple gold painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
