Condition

Overall measurements: 97cm across the top, 106cm across the bottom, 507cm the left hand side, 509cm the right hand side. Overall in good condition and sound and ready to use. Pile varies from 2mm down to knotbars in localised areas. Localised patches of minor re-piling in the blue field, only visible at certain angles. Triple banded sidecords original. The reduction in length has been professionally executed and only noticeable under very close inspection. Ends with trimmed warp fringes and vestiges of original flatweave.

Catalogue Note

The crisp drawing found in the present lot is not uncommon with examples where the field design is plain with often blue ground. It is, however, highly unusual to find such clarity, and indeed range of colours. See lot 21 for a further example.
