SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND BRACELET, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Description

Claw-set with a cushion-shaped diamond, between millegrain-set sugarloaf cabochon sapphires and circular-cut diamond shoulders, inner circumference approximately 155mm.  

Provenance

Given to Marie Anne of Austria, Princess Elie de Bourbon-Parme (1882-1940) by her aunt, Marie Christine of Austria, Queen of Spain (1858-1929) on the occasion of the birth of her daughter, Princess Marie Christine (1925-2009).

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 93533, stating that the sugarloaf sapphires measuring approximately 11.00 x 9.25 x 6.70mm and 10.80 x 9.00 x 6.40mm, are of basaltic origin, with no indications of heating. Mounted in 14 carat gold and platinum. Sapphires blue of strong saturation, with typical surface reaching inclusions, with minor scratches, nicks and cavities to the reverse. Scratches to the metal consistent with wear. Secure clasp, safety catches. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 12 grams.
