Condition

The copper plate is stable, the paint surface is clean and the varnish is slightly discoloured. There is very light craquelure in the head of the figure with his back to the viewer on the left, and in Joseph and his brother dressed in red. Inspection underneath ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish underneath which small spots of retouching are visible in the bearded figure's blue shawl, the ground lower centre, and the tree upper right, otherwise the work appears to be in very good condition. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in good condition.
