Condition

The panel is made up of a single plank, is cradled and flat, and has bevelled edges. The paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some retouchings, most notably along two horizontal old splits or joins in the panel, the first which runs the width of the panel circa 13cm. below the upper edge, and the second which starts halfway down the left edge and stops before the trees in the centre. Further retouchings are scattered throughout the sky, along the left and right edges, and in the figures and horse in the foreground. In overall good condition. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in very good condition.
